July 2024 Dividend Update

 July 2024 Dividend Updates

I am almost catching up with reporting my monthly dividend collected.  Folks this is a real money each of the companies paid me to hold their stock. In other words it is the reward for being a shareholder of these companies.

Without further ado let us review July 2024, updates and see how this is coming along.

In July 2024, in our taxable accounts we received a total of $749.25.  Wow truly amazing seeing the number growing each month and every year with continue investments and re-investing the dividend until one day when I can start to use it for every day expenses.

How did you do in July 2024, or the months following that?
We will update August 2024, in the coming days as I catch up with life and work.

January 2023 Dividend Income

 JANUARY's 2023 DIVIDEND INCOME

January 2023, start the year with the market on the upswing rally.  Hopefully this is a sign of a better year versus 2022.  Our net worth also well up in January, which is a good thing mostly driven by the market.  Our Rental portfolio value stayed steady and its beginning to rebound towards the all time high achieve in early 2022.  We also welcome Jr. Dividend Pursuit #2, so sleep has been scarce so far this year, but we look forward to things getting better soon.  At least I am on paternity leave and do not have to drive two hours each way in Boston traffic for now.

Our theme for this year will be:

  1. Capital improvements in our rental property
  2. increase our reserves and emergency funds
  3. Travel internationally at least once
  4. invest in target stocks in our taxable accounts and focus on index funds in our tax advantage accounts

Now without further ado let us review our January 2023 Dividend income.  For January 2023, we collected a total of $783.73, in passive dividends wow a new record for January for us.

Just amazing the power of compounding has on the market and regularly invest in the market.  We tend to tune off the market daily gyrations and what Mr. Market does on a daily basis.  Instead we focus on our long term plan and regularly invest when capital are available.

On our taxable account we collected a total of $721.70 in dividend and on our Tax advantage accounts we collected $62.03.

We continue to regularly invest and buy value stocks with the hope to hold them for long term.  At the same time we are also investing in our rental properties and continue to make capital improvements towards building long term wealth that will be passed on through our generation.

On our rental property Property #1, we finally found a new renter and they will be moving in February 2023.  We had cash flow of $165.00

Property #2 is a different story we had some unexpected expenses that total negative cash flow $17786.00, ouch!

We expected more capital expenditure this year here in this property.  Property #1 will also need new windows in 2 out of 4 units are we are collecting quotes to make this improvements that will hopefully will keep the tenants here long term.

Hope you had a good month!  How did toy do last month?

Thank you for visiting,

December 2022 Dividend Update

 December 2022 Dividend Update

As we come to the close of 2022, it is time to look forward and start to plan for next year.  Dividend Pursuit household have a lot of plans to accomplish, including welcoming Jr #2, possible travels to Portugal and Dominica Republic or Mexico for vacation next year.  We also have a lot going on on projects with our rental portfolios.  But first let's close 2022 by review December 2022, dividend income collected this month.

Without further ado we close 2022 with a bang for sure, for the first time we cross the four (4) digit mark in dividend collected in our total accounts.  In December 2022, we collected $1054.43 Wow just incredible.  The power of compounding is truly amazing with addition of extra capital spend in different stocks we hold.

In our taxable accounts we collected a $971.25, in dividend passively and in our taxable advantage accounts we collected a total of $137.18, in dividend.

For next year we will stock automatic investing and focus on collecting the dividend for different adventure we are planning, we are taking a sabbatical for saying in pursuing early retirement to spent time with the family, we are still in our early 40's and we will have time to achieve that within the next five (5) years, but we will not have the time with our kids now.  It is best to focus on family and enjoy the ride now instead of waiting until we reach Financial Independence (FI) to do that.

Our rental part of our portfolio we did not do so well. One building had a sewage backup so far our expenses to fix, repair and cleanup are around $12000.00.  Ouch!!!  we also have a unit empty on another building that has left us with a negative cash flow for the month in the tunes of $1500.00.

Next month I ill be focusing on completing renovate and clean up the unit and getting it ready for rent in February 2022.

How did you do last month?  Did you do well with your dividend income?

Thank you for visiting, back next year.

March 2022 Dividend Update

 March 2022 Dividend Update

Albufera, Portugal

With some many terrible news around the world it is so hard to even talk about money and dividend collected.  Oil Price so high world wide has really impact individual and family budgets worldwide.  The War in Ukraine and the devastation and the loss of human life only dampens the desired to watch TV.  I have been avoid watch the news as there are no good news on TV.

However, we cannot control most of what happens worldwide, this only enforce the idea to plan for the future and hope for the best.  One way my family does this is to plan our Financial Freedom Retire Early (FIRE), we tend to focus on the FI part by investing in the market and real estate.  I don't report our real estate holding much here just as I don't plan to count with our Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) government form of 401K I am investing in as a government employee.  But we do focus on our passive dividend income, which we report monthly here.

                                                                    Sagres, Portugal

Last month we had a busy month.  We spend 10 days in Algarve region, Portugal and two (2) days in Lisbon.  The food was incredible good and this allowed us to recharge our batteries and refocus our energy as we return back to the states.  Maintenance also occupy three (3) of my days off from my Job, but this also create enough passive income on the real state side to fund our travel, couple with the points earn in our Capital one Venture credit card.

Without further ado let us review dividend collected last month via all our accounts:

We collected a total of $618.03 in dividend last month and for the quarter one (Q1) we collected a total of 1570.49 in dividend.

How did you do last month?  Did you had a great month as well?

Let us now review where the dividends came from.  We collected $87.83 from our taxable advantage accounts. We also collected $530.20 in out taxable accounts.

Now let us review what we could have cover in our expenses side of the ledger.

We could had paid our Car loan $399.40, our Verizon internet service $74.99, fill the tank in our Toyota Tacoma once $72.00 and I paid my EZ- Pass $50.00, still leaving $21.64 for lunch.

Overall we had great month.  We also sold and took some profits from XOM, CVX, EOG and CFG.  The Profits we re-invested in some laggards stocks and we also initiate some new positions.

September 2018 Purchase II

Vacation Labor day weekend. September 2018 Purchase II

On this somber day of September 11, 2018. A time to pause, ponder and reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001. I took the time to reflect on life and plan for next few months on potential to do list, Stocks buys and other ventures with our real estate holdings. I was also able to reflect on this past summer, and start to plan for next summer on what we could potential plan to do.

As the summer came to an end, we took our last vacation this time we visited the beautiful Niagara Falls. It was definitely tremendous to see the nature in person. To experience the water falls and be able to enjoy it with family was a definitely a blessing. The mini vacation does motivate me to continue to build my passive income, so one day I am able to rely and live me life without worrying about the financial aspect of life.

We also visited the Niagara Falls Aquarium, which was the highlight for Junior. Ever since shark week, he has been fascinated by sharks. Below he admires a shark!

Now that Junior has return to school full time, I should have more time to invest and research stocks I wish to buy. Today I took a different approach and add more shares to current holdings. I kind of did not plan to do so, but did not find any opportunity to deploy capital in any new stocks, so this is the best approach for now. So lets see what I purchase today as the market came to a close.

Without any further ado... here is what I purchase on:

September 11, 2018
LEG 5 shares @ $46.28 total $231.38
GE 15 shares @ $12.36 total $185.32
MAIN 9 Shares @ $39.61 total $356.47
LTC 3 Shares @ $45.46 total $136.38
MRK 3 shares @ $69.16 total $207.50

Total Invested $1118.05 commission free of course since I am using Robin Hood (RH) to trade and buy stocks. You can also use the free app by clicking the link and sign up with RH.

LEG purchase of 5 shares will add $7.60 to my forward yearly dividend, total shares now held is 10.
GE purchase of 15 shares will add $7.20 to my forward yearly dividend, total shares hold is now 37.
MAIN purchase of 9 shares will add $21.06 to my forward yearly dividend, total shares now held is 20.  Three (3) shares of LTC purchase will add $6.84 to forward yearly dividend, total shares hold is now 7. Three (3) shares of MRK purchase will add $5.76 to my forward yearly dividend, total shares now held is 5.

The purchase serve mostly to add shares and average down on some of my holdings like MAIN and GE. Both continue to laggard behind most industry peers. I do believe in both holdings long term and I am patient enough to wait five (5) years on both holdings, while I buy quality stocks I do tend to buy beat down stocks at time.

With the purchase my forward yearly dividend is now at $939.47. The fund will continue to buy stocks and hold for long term unless the dividend are cut.

What do you think of current purchase?
What are you buying now?

Travel

It has being almost a month since we came back from our recent international travel to the beautiful Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We are back in the swing of things and we realize how much fun everyday life could be once we reach early retirement.

Most people go on vacation just to recharge their batteries and get back to the hassle of a 9-5 job. That is why I am investing my hard earn money, so I can reach the early retirement stage and really enjoy life while I am still young. This beats working for forty years and eventually retire at an age where I may not fully enjoy the retirement age. There are many success stories of people who have achieve this milestone at an relatively young age. So this is possible, just need to keep focus and set goals. Long term and short term goals that are achievable to continue to fuel the desire to retire early in life.

Traveling and experiencing different culture has a way of changing one thinking and creativity. Specially when you travel with a love one. Who enjoys the same things you do. Life is meant to be enjoyed and experience, not working for 40 to 50 years and try to enjoy it when you are old and lack vitality.

The sign above really hits the mark, the last sign "live the present" this is the idea work hard and save and invest most of your earnings to reach the early retirement so you can enjoy life at its present form.

Of course some risk are also great as it helps you evaluate what is the most important things in life.
